It's always surprising to visit a place first seen on television during turmoil. The Independence Square in Kiev is one of the those places. For who hasn't had the chance to be there, it is in an area of architectural grandeur, surrounded by buildings built during the soviet period.
A somber moment was when 108 people were shot by snipers. These people are now called something like the 100 "skyiers" or "celestials" (something hard to translate) and have their place of remembrance along the road leading up to Parliament. These men and women all have a small memorial like these shown here.
